Event: Distribution of Power - DIY Experimental Performance & Synth Workshop weekend
Dates: 11th - 14th June
Venue: Bidston Observatory Artist Research Centre - Birkenhead
Led by a team of underrepresented artists and engineers, distribution of power is an inclusive experimental arts project merging sound and visuals via DIY instruments, live coding and hardware synths. The project is a community-driven collective that empowers hidden talent. By prioritizing peer-led learning and professional growth, d.o.p. strengthens local creative ecosystems and ensures that diverse voices lead the future of experimental art.
This series of live events, artist talks, and workshops prioritises community building and knowledge sharing.
The programme begins with an evening of live performances, a 90-minute conversation and opens up a weekend of workshops led by performing artists (TBA), offering insight into their creative practices alongside, micro-demonstrations of instruments, software, and equipment.
This approach demystifies experimental music technologies and encourages peer learning, skills exchange, and meaningful audience engagement.
